OVERALL OBJECTIVE: Functioning as a member of a Multi-Disciplinary Team and working closely with
the staff Occupational and Physical Therapists, the Activity Coordinator plans, coordinates, supervises and
implements an activity and social program for frail elderly and functionally impaired adults in an integrated program
setting of Adult Day Health Care and Alzheimer’s Day Care Resource Center.
Requirements
A. Two years experience in a social or recreational program within the past five years,
one year of which was full-time employment in a patient activities program in a health care setting,
or a program dedicated to frail seniors, and meet the following educational requirements:
1. Possess a bachelor's degree in occupational therapy, music therapy, dance therapy,
art therapy, recreational therapy, performance therapy,
--or--
2. Be a certified occupational therapy assistant (COTA) and receive regular consultation from the
staff occupational therapist, as directed by the Program Director,
--or--
3 Have completed a minimum of 36 hours of training for a certificate as an Activity Coordinator and receive
regular consultation from the staff occupational therapist, as directed by the Program Director.
B Proficient in Microsoft programs, including Word, Excel, Power Point, as well as internal databases,
Internet and research methods.
C. Must write and speak English well. (A language test will be a component of the application.)
D. Must be a leader willing to take responsibility for the planning, successful execution and evaluation of programs.
E. Must be culturally competent in relationships with participants, staff, interns, volunteers and family members.
F. Must be well organized and a good time manager.
G. Prefer (but not required) bilingual English + Korean, Spanish, Mandarin and/or Cantonese

Job Summary
Staff Occupational Therapist is a professional staff member whose responsibilities include:
Patient care, maintenance of departmental records, and assisting in special patient care.

Evaluating and treating a caseload of patients with impaired functional abilities following established policies and protocols.
Evaluating pediatric, adult and geriatric patients.
Interpreting findings to determine the nature and extent of dysfunction.
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree (B.S.) in Occupational Therapy
Current California state Occupational Therapy license.
American Occupational Therapy Association registration
Minimum of one year related experience in acute care/SNF setting
Current CPR certification
Demonstrated competence in reacting to, and handling emergencies
Strong charting and documenting skills
Commitment to excellence and high standards
Ability to manage workflow and priorities
Bilingual (Spanish/English) a plus

The Institute on Aging's Alzheimer's Day Center/Adult Day Health Center is currently seeking a Part Time OT!

Primary Responsibility: Evaluate, provide and oversee Occupational Therapy treatment to a frail elderly population.
Specific Responsibilities:
1- Evaluate the participant's functional capabilities, setting realistic goals within a treatment program.
2-Provide instruction in treatment and maintenance program to the Rehab Assistant, the participant and family,
and homecare worker, if involved.
3-In collaboration with the Physical Therapist, structure and direct the care given by the Rehab Assistant.
4-Acts as consultant and advisor to staff, advising on transfer techniques, transportation issues and relevant
methods of assisting participants in ADLs, including feeding.
5-Functions as part of an interdisciplinary team. Attends, and actively participates in team meetings.
6-Responsible for completing all relevant documentation, including quarterly notes, assessments and other
paperwork as required.
7-In conjunction with the Physical Therapist, is responsible for ordering, maintaining and tracking of
individual participant equipment, as well as center equipment.
8-Actively participates in, and encourages, actions that promote good public relations with participants,
their families and friends, visitors and the general community.
9-In collaboration with educational programs, supervise, educate and evaluate OT students.
10-Particpates in organizations and activities, which promote professional growth and development.
11-Participate in and promote ongoing efforts toward continuous quality improvement.
12-All other reasonably related duties as assigned.
Education: Graduate of accredited Occupational Therapy program.
Background and Experience:
1-Current certificate of registration with the AOTCB.
2-One year of experience working as an Occupational Therapist preferred.
3-Interest in working with frail/memory impaired elders.
4-Ability to work as part of an interdisciplinary team.
5-Good working knowledge of computers.
6-Interest and willingness to work in a multilingual, multicultural environment.
Physical requirements:
